The main idea is to inform people about Jackie Robinson's career. In the article, Sharon talks about robinson's awards, the seasons he played and the challenges he faced to succeed. There were separate leagues for colored people. He had to know if Robinson was good enough. If he didn't have strength of character he would have fought back when people were being racist towards him. Jackie Robinson succeeded in destroying the color barrier because 13 seasons later there was at least one colored player on each Major League Baseball team.
